In Luoyang, China we had the opportunity to spend an entire day with a Chinese Host family! My host student was 16-year old girl named “Lucy”. At 9am we went shopping at a market for an hour. Afterwards I went to spend the rest of my day at her home. I had the opportunity to meet the rest of her family. There, we all played fun games. Games such as “Snap & Catch”, Freeze tag, and much more! It definitely brought me back to my childhood. We also made ALOT of delicious dumplings and ate lots of watermelon to help cool us down from the boiling heat. When the sun started to set they took me to the “Longmen Grottoes” to go watch the mountains light up. When it reaches night the mountains have lights everywhere that light up the night sky. It was a very relaxing, calm, and beautiful stroll to witness. Thankfully, the summer breeze helped us stay cool during our walk. Eventually the night was coming to an end. On our way back to the school released our inner Beyoncé – or in this case Idina Menzel – and sang “Let It Go”!
Overall my homestay was incredibly enjoyable. I had a great time and made new friends that I stay connected with by QQI!
