College Tours

The right exposure can open a mind to unknown territory, resulting in endless possibilities. At MJYF, we make it a priority to expose our students to personal development skills, different cultures, civic engagement and various colleges and universities. In June 2019, we embarked on our annual college tour trip to the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area. To introduce students to a variety of school types and sizes, we visited five different colleges that each had distinctions of their own.

During the tour, students were invited to talk out their most burning questions or misconceptions about college life. Students asked questions about different fields of study, financial aid and scholarships, school culture, campus organizations, athletics, class size, school safety, school traditions and more.

We spent three packed days exploring each city and embracing national monuments and museums. As part of our legacy and mission to serve minority students we deemed it necessary and inspirational to close out the college tour trip by visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Students were flooded with emotions and gratitude for all they witnessed in a short amount of time.
