After leaving Beijing, our group headed to Henan Province to further of knowledge on the Chinese language and martial arts. Every day we woke around 6 AM to eat the hotel’s breakfast before packing into bus. We were hosted by Shaolin Vocational School and our teachers for the next few days were students.Just after the first day, I was swamped. Each day to come would be the same, several hours of Chinese language and martial arts. The moves were intricate and the language was complex, but still each day I tried my best. Despite waking up sore for the workout, it all payed off when we were able to perform in front of the group and use of language skills when shopping. Throughout those days, we experienced two key components of Chinese culture, the language and art.
